Why use a Split routine? Split routines have been used for decades in all sports professions and training styles. A split routine is put simply a method of training different body parts at different times of the day and different days of the week. It can be as simple as one muscle group each day or a mixture of muscle groups each day e.g., lower body, upper body, day rest… then repeat. A spilt routine is used to allow significant time for a muscle group to recover before its next workout. For example, if all muscles were trained every day constantly without rest then your body would quickly enter a state of over training and progress would stop and eventually go backwards.
